I was raised on Dutchie. My dad spent time in Dartmouth during the Wyse Owl days. The first records I listened to were The Blues Ain't Bad and Janitor of the Blues. It's been a sad time during the holidays since finding out we've lost him. God Bless Dutch Carlton

I'll never forget the old days at the Moon and the Cellar. Dutchy's trips out west were a great excuse for all the Maritimers in Vancouver to get together. My condolences to the family. We've lost a legend.

When I was a kid in the late 70s Dutch Mason showed my friends and I that someone from around the corner could make music that was exciting, vital, and real. He and his band were heroes to us and through Dutch we were introduced to a whole world of blues and beyond. His legacy is vast. Thanks.

My condolences to Garrett and the Mason family. The last time I saw Dutchie was with Garrett at the "Dirty O" in May '05 and the first time (I think) was at the DAL sub in the early 70's. In between I saw him many times at various venues across Canada including at the El Mocambo in Toronto (where he sold out the place). To all of us baby-boomers Dutchie was and is a legend and his music will live on.

Dutch...some of the best times playing blues were when you were on stage with my band. I'll treasure those memories and be playing that Big Daddy G track you did with us alot in the next few days...

Three of us, then in our early 20s, travelled in a van to the Maritimes and back for our holidays. We each had different tastes in music, but the one thing we could all agree upon was our Dutch Mason tape. We wore that baby out, and played little else. On that trip, I became a fan. My sincere condolences to his family and many fans.
